IN SHORT
AWAIT is a short film and part of MINUTES – a film series portraying KAAN’s architecture through the lenses of international filmmakers.
The film is centered in and around the crematory site Heimolen in St. Niklaas, Belgium. Approached as a visual essay, the film builds upon the architecture’s symbolism: two buildings – the ceremony building, pointing to earth, emphasizing it’s gravity and the ephemeral. And the crematory building, pointing towards heaven, representing spiritual infinity.
Shot on super16, the film captures the building’s beautiful textures, graphic geometry and fluid movement of light.
